Fire in battle for next round of Champions League

5 March 2021

Tuesday sees Sevilla take the trip to the ‘yellow wall’ to take on Borussia Dortmund in what is looking to be an exciting tie after the first leg. The first leg had a standout performer in Erling Haaland who’s finishing was nothing short of exhilarating during the game with him bagging 2 goals in the first half. Dortmund lead 3-2 on aggregate with 3 away goals. Sevilla let themselves back into the tie with a late Luuk De Jong goal that took them to within 1 of the visitors. This isn’t the only great game taking place on Tuesday with Portuguese team Porto travelling to Turin to play the mighty Juventus. Porto won the first leg 2 – 1 with Porto bagging there first goal within 2 minutes before Moussa Marega extended the lead to 2 just after the break. A Ronaldo inspired Juventus could only pull themselves within 1 of the Portuguese side. Juventus have a lot to do in Turin if they want to keep their European hopes alive.

The Day After the Night Before.

On Wednesday we have another round of the absolute best fixtures. Firstly, Barcelona head to Paris with nothing but hope in mind after a star boy inspired performance from Kylian Mbappe who got the match-ball in Catalonia. Barcelona finds themselves 4-1 down after the first leg and it seems an impossible mountain for them to climb. A Lionel Messi penalty put Barcelona in the lead before Mbappe took matters into his own hands to put the tie to bed (surely!). Though it wouldn’t be the first time PSG have let a big lead slip in Europe to Barcelona…

After a bad run of form Liverpool went to face Leipzig. The odds were against Klopp’s side, but they proved the doubters wrong as they controlled the game from start to finish taking home comfortable 2-0 lead with the two away goals also. Salah and Mane were both on the score sheet putting away Liverpool’s only 2 shots on target. However, the wind was knocked out of Liverpool’s sails after losing against Everton at Anfield for the first time in 22 years.
